MINISTRY INFORMATION

Awana is a worldwide nonprofit ministry that provides Bible based evangelism and discipleship programs for ages 2yrs.- 12th grade.  Awana gives children and youth the opportunity to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. Meets weekly. Must be a church member, and must be able to pass a background check. 
Children’s ministries at Southern Calvert Baptist Church that focus on encouraging children to become strong in their faith and help them to know that God created them and loves them very much! Connect Kids provides childcare for infants through pre-K during Sunday morning worship service. Connect Kids offers a variety of children’s programs that happen year-round, meet during the school year, or are seasonal events. Must be a church member, and must be able to pass a background check.

Assist SCBC staff and members in accomplishing their creative communication objectives. Through video, photography, and online resources, we tell the SCBC story in strategic, meaningful, and creative ways. Must be a church member.
DISCIPLESHIP TEAM
The purpose of the Christian Discipleship Team is to provide a multilevel discipleship program to help members become aware of the importance of their church membership, to become mature in Christ likeness, to become active in church ministries, and to be involved in church outreach efforts of evangelism and missions. The discipleship program will also provide family enrichment to strengthen families and support the development of Godly generations, and opportunities to develop kingdom skills, such as teaching, leading, praying, and giving. Must be a church member.
F.I.T. TEAM
This purpose of the First Impressions Team is to provide Ushers/Greeters/Parking Attendants/Hosts for all worship services or when the need arises. The Pastor informs this team when its services are required. The team is responsible for greeting all guests, making them feel welcome in the Lord’s house, and directing them as needed to the nursery, restroom facilities, and other places for their future references. They collect the offerings when required. They deal with anyone attempting to disrupt a church service. Their duties are divided among parking attendants, greeters (outside and inside), ushers (greet, pass out programs, collect offerings), hosts (information table, registration cards, escort). The team leads the church traffic by having directional signs posted inside and outside for the convenience of our first time guests. This team is responsible for developing use of the welcome center as a place to minister to guests. F.I.T. has multiple teams and works off a rotation. Must be a church member. 
GREAT COMMISSION TEAM
The purpose of the Great Commission team is to provide organization and leadership for missions projects of the church and communicate and explain information regarding the mission work of the church, the Potomac Baptist Association, the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, and the Southern Baptist Convention. The team helps the church become a missionary sending church, both for short term mission projects and for calling out men and women as career missionaries. Must be a church member.
HOSPITATILITY/CONNECT CAFE
Responsible for providing hospitality services at SCBC events; such as, food and supplies. (i.e. Connect Cafe). Must be a church member.
MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT TEAM
The purpose of the Ministry Development Team is to establish a ministry placement process in which members will seek to discover how God has shaped them for ministry, and then help them to find their place within existing church ministries, or in the development of new ministries. The Team seeks to involve new members in positions of ministry. The Church Ministry Development Team provides oversight and support of ministries developed through
Southern Calvert Baptist Church and not assigned to other Ministry Teams. Must be a church member.
Southern Calvert Baptist Church is a collection location for area churches and individuals to drop off packed shoeboxes during National Collection Week (3rd week in November). Southern Calvert Baptist Church then serves as central drop off location. After National collection week, four area churches deliver their cartons of shoeboxes to SCBC to be loaded on trucks for transport to processing centers.
SECURITY
Responsible for ensuring the safety of worshippers and those in attendance at events. Duties are event driven. Must be a church member, and must be able to pass a background check. 
The purpose of the worship team is to assist the Pastor(s) in leading the congregation in worship, by providing music and musicians for all worship services of the Church, as well as special worship services; teaching music; providing organization and leadership for special music projects of the Church; and communicating and explaining information regarding the work of the Church and the denomination in the area of Church music. The team also provides and develops musical contributions from individuals, ensembles, and choirs as appropriate for each worship service, involving as many as possible in worship participation. Serving schedule is a quarterly commintment. Must be a church member. 
The Youth Ministry of Southern Calvert Baptist Church seeks to lead students in the 6th - 12th grades to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and provide opportunities for spiritual growth through Sunday School, Sunday night meetings, and Discipleship Training. Must be a church member, and must be able to pass a background check.
