Next-Gen Pastor - FULL TIME

MAIN FOCUS:
The main focus of the Next Generation (Next-Gen) Pastor will be Children and Youth Ministries - infants through 12th grade.
LINE OF AUTHORITY:
The Next-Gen Pastor is under the spiritual authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is a contract employee of Southern Calvert Baptist Church. He is supervised by the Senior Pastor who assigns and oversees his tasks and evaluates job performance. His salary and benefits are established and regulated by the Trustees as per the By-laws and the Personnel Manual of SCBC.
He will be called to the church according to the procedures outlined in the By-laws.
AREA OF FOCUS:
Christian Education: Children through High School
The Next-Gen Pastor is to oversee the Christian Education ministries and activities of the church for children through high school and serve as the Youth Ministry Team Leader. With the assistance of the Discipleship Ministry Team Leader, the Next-Gen Pastor will organize the Children through High School Connect Groups, evaluate curriculum, recruit and train teachers to serve, evaluate the effectiveness of the Connect Groups, oversee the home-school Co-op, and implement positive changes when necessary. He will oversee coordination of all activities associated with Youth Group and the various youth mission trips and weekend retreats that occur annually.
In addition to Children through High School Connect Groups and the Youth Ministry Team, the Next-Gen Pastor will oversee all Children’s Ministry activities, such as VBS, Children’s Easter outreach, fall festivals, AWANA, revivals, etc., and participate in presenting the Gospel at these events; along with encouraging and training the Children’s Ministry Team and Team Leader.
OTHER DUTIES:
The Next-Gen Pastor may perform other pastoral duties so long as they do not hinder him from doing those outlined above. Examples of other pastoral duties are, but are not limited to, funerals, weddings, denominational ministries, mission trips, etc.
The Next-Gen Pastor will preach upon the request of the Senior Pastor.
EXPECTATIONS:

He must agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

He is to maintain a healthy spiritual life. He is to engage in personal devotions and Bible study.

He is to have a healthy home life. If he is married, he should have a healthy, loving, and edifying relationship with his wife and children.

He is to maintain constant contact and communication with the Senior Pastor. He is expected to suggest new programs, methods and means to grow the Connect Groups, reach people for Christ, and assimilate them into the body of Christ.

He is expected to be accountable to the Senior Pastor for his office hours, vacation time, personal time, and sick days.

He is expected to handle his budgets and all fiduciary matters according to the procedures outlined by the Trustees of the church.

He is expected to work with other church members in a cooperative manner.

He is expected to attend Church Council meetings.

Experience (required): Three years' relevant experience in a youth ministry with at least 75 children and youth - infants through 12th grade.

Education (required): Associates degree and demonstrated desire for continued education.

Education (preferred): A graduate of a Southern Baptist Seminary with a degree, certificate, diploma, or the equivalent.

Ordained (required): Ordained and in good standing in the local Baptist Association, the State Baptist Convention in which he resides, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
